According to the JAR-OPS regulations, the Cockpit Voice Recorder of a 50 seat multi-engined aircraft having been granted the airworthiness certificate after 1st April 1998 will record:
- the radiotelephonic communications transmitted or received by the cockpit crew
- the audio environment of the cockpit
- the cabin attendants communications in the cabin via the interphone
- the flight crew members communications in the cockpit via the interphone
- the flight crew members communications in the cockpit via the public address system
- the audio signals identifying the navigation or approach aids
